Hello all,

I just completed my first build with the excellent instructions on this site!!  Thank you all very much for the instruction and resources to make it easy.

I test fired the gun yesterday and it ate up 5.56 and .223 ammo without a hitch.  I did notice that in front of the Vltor low profile gas block (on the barrel), there was some residue being blown out between the barrel and the gas block.

Is this normal?  Is there an alignment problem?  (The gun cycled fine.) Or maybe is the gas block not tight enough?

Thank you in advance for your expertice.

It is normal for residue to come out of the gas block where the gas tube enters, and also the receiver where the gas tube goes in. It should eventually build up enough and seal up.
