I am wondering if anyone uses anything extra when mounting a gas block or front sight base and gas tube to ensure a tight seal? Such as a light film of high temp gasket material, or a drop or two of lock-tight or rock-set in between the barrel and gas block and at the gas tube insertion point.

Just finished (I mean like 2 hours ago!) a build with a Krieger barrel -
Krieger advised me to put a drop of BLUE threadlocker/locktite on top
and bottom of the block/barrel interface.

I did just that....just a drop!

The tube insertion point is held in by a rollpin which also got a drop.

I have no idea if its conventional or rare.

Alexander Arms recommends using Loc-Tite 2440 to "bed" the gas block and barrel/receiver NOT THE BARREL NUT on their builds.  I couldn't find any 2440 locally and called Loc-tite who advised that 2440 is different than regular Blue loctite mainly in set up time.  I used the regular blue.

Thanks guys… I have put together about 15 uppers and letting the carbon build up is “good enough”! But I’m getting to the point where “good enough” isn’t really cutting it for me anymore. I want to take the time to do those few extra steps that make a difference… at least to me.

Thanks again
