Let me say that this is one of the most informative forums on AR15.com.  I learned so much.

Now, I have a project in mind and want to know if it will work, because it involves a lot of dremel work.  I have a 16" midlength upper reciever.

1.  I want to cut my FSB to make it a low profile gas block with a dremel.

2.  Then, I want to install a Troy MFC 13" FF rail system.

Questions

1.  Will the troy rail system fit over it (the gas block) once I cut it down?
2.  Do I need to remove the gas block from the barrel?  I don't have the tools to remove the flash suppressor.

Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated before I buy or attempt anything.  Once again, great forum!

You do not need to remove the gas block. You can just whack the top of the FSB off.

It should fit under the Troy Rail, but maybe somone who has that rail can mesure it for you.

Cut it off then File and sand somoth. You can use some alumahide or Duracoat or just spray paint and refinsh it if you want. Dont have a troy rail. So i dont know about dementions.
