I am looking for a gas block to put under a DD Lite rail. I am leaning towards the Daniel Defense Low Profile Gas Block This one. Would this be a good choice or would a set screw gas block be a better choice. The barrel it will be going on had the front sight removed so I would like to cover up the taper pin holes also.

Do you still have the original front sight tower?  Just dremel it down and hit it with some black krylon and throw it back on the barrel.  Not the prettiest, but it is the most rugged solution.

Otherwise, I believe there are several makers of low-profile gas blocks, Vltor, CMMG, Larue, others?

I got a CMT low profile gas block to fit under my LaRue rail.  Why spend extra on a gas block just to cover it up?

I made this from a Colt FSB. I left it "shrouded" where the gas tube is. I just like the look of it and it doesn't need to go under my handguard. I "cold blued" it. I use "cold blue" because it doesn't peel or chip. This was my first one. I may do another that is unshrouded if I find another HBAR FSB for cheap. It took a couple hours. I am meticulous. I'm sure others have done it much faster.

I prefer pinned gas blocks. It's just a more solid arrangement, IMO. If I were going to use a set screw attach block, I would dimple the barrel where the screws go and definitley use some blue Loctite. Good luck and post pics when you complete it

I don't want to use the original sight cut down. I did start cutting it down but if you have seen a DD Lite rail you would better understand where I am coming from for it to fit past the "bolt up end" of the rail it has to have a minimal profile I got the top of the original gas block cut down but the bottom was too big even after removing the bayonet lug I started rounding the edges where the taper pins are but did not want to do that B/C if or when I wanted to remove the gas block in the future I would have major problems trying to drive out a pin that does not have a flat side to be able to drive it out.
