With proper lube, they will last a long, long time. Here is the test to see if you need to replace them. Take the bolt out of the carrier by removing the firing pin retainer and then the firing pin. Next, take out the cam pin. Pull the bolt out of the carrier and place it back in and hold it upside down with the bolt facing downward. If the bolt falls out of the carrier under its own weight, replace the gas rings. |
