| I've been wanting an AR for over a year and am now about to pull the trigger. I have narrowed it down to the Scar 16s, Sig 516, and the DDM4 v5 LW. For the money the Sig seems like a great deal. My LGS has 2 of them but how do I tell if they are Gen 2 or not? Also for just an all around plinker/range/hunter rifle which of these would you choose? |

Gen 1 has a squared off gas port adjustment knob with little indented cutouts along the rim. It also has threads on it that mate to the gas block.
Gen 2 has a rounded off gas port adjustment knob with little indented circles that go from small to large. Gen 1:
