I think this can be categorized in the Good Stuff folder, isn't it?

Should be same as USGI stuff. However, previous discussions has indicated some of the the rounds have weak casing that shows split. Pretty much same rule as XM855PD or XM193PD, you gotta inspect each and every round before you start using it.

Anyone used the Pakistani ammo?

Any link to threads where ppl talks about this (split cases)?

PS: I always inspect ammos (surplus or not) before loading

Nope. I used about 500 rounds of the Potuguese, that worked fine for me. But that's not reloadable, whereas the Federal stuff is.

Sorry, they must have archived the thread. However, there was picture showing the casing has a line that looks like the casing is about to crack. May be someone can help dig it out.

It's been established that the PD line of ammo are Lake City rejects from somewhere along the line.
There are numerous posts about split cases, bullets seated too deeply, severe dents etc. I personally have been through 2 cases of XM855PD, and 1 case of XM80PD, and have not had any bad rounds whatsoever, I have not even had any dents that I would consider bad. I fired every single round. I may have just been very lucky, but I would not hesitate to buy more PD ammo when the time comes.

I don't mind a few rejects. I ran over a case of SS109 LC in the last month, and I may have thrown away at most 10 rounds. And because I'm pretty picky, otherwise most of those would have probably worked fine too.
I'd tend to prefer Federal 308 against the other Pakistani, Indian, etc ... since it's newer and it's reloadable.

Ice,
I have shot a bunch of this stuff.  I got it from the Ammoman.  Same 500 round boxes.  Not one bad round.  Some of the brass isn't that clean but every round went bang.  It seems to be a little more expensive per round.  I also have shot the South African surplus and that seems good no bad rounds.

If you aren't going to reload there are cheaper rounds out there that go bang just as well.  Good luck

I ordered 2K rounds, let's see how it goes I will reload, so for me the extra price might be worth. Do you remember how the brass was?
