Nowdays you can get AR's in .300 short, .308, .260, .243, .223, and .204.
Does anyone build them in .22/250? This seems like it would be a super addition to the varmint variants. What do you think? |

A .223 or a 5.56 will do anything a 22-250 will do. And do it better. When my daughters 22-250 gets burned out it'll become a 6.5/08 to overcome it's slow twist problems. It seems as though the break point of a fast twist is around .24 cal.
A 22-250 would require a AR10 type rifle. That caliber has been tried and seems to not work. Same goes for a fast twist bolt gun in the same caliber. Feeding problems (AR) and burnt barrels in both. Go with a good .223 or 5.56 'Match' type and you'll be happy If a 22-250 were easy. It'd be on your list of available calibers. 458 |
