In a trade I've been offered a CMMG flattop with a bull barrel and Hogue Forend like this: (but without optics)

What could an AR like this best be used for?

Thanks.

I used the word "best" because I'm sure this style is better at some things and not better at other things.

Varmits and bench equates to "accurate, target type" shooting over home defense.

That rifle would work just fine for HD. You're getting it without the optics, right?  Put on a RDS and you're set up for HD, training (taking classes), plinking, or even competition.

It seemes a little on the heavy and cumbersome side when compared to my previous Bushmaster Patrolman's Carbine

If you wanted to put some money into it, you could get the barrel fluted to cut down on weight.  It's probably very accurate.  Won't have the range of a 20", but for medium range, it should be a tack driver.

You're sure it's a cmmg and not rra?

I once shot a CQB match using a Bushmaster Superlight with an EOTech and placed behind a friend with Ranger Recon who used a DPMS sweet sixteen that looked almost exactly like that, also with an EOTech on top.  (I came in third, he came in second)

What does that mean?  BigBore is right... it's the Singer, not the song.

Looks like an excellent coyote gun to me.
