I've been looking and I see a wide variety that range in price. I like the idea of having a storage compartment for batteries. I just don't want to buy one and find that it doesn't lockup tight on my DD rail.

Personally, when I use a vertical grip I use a KAC (it came with my RAS) and have been happy with it.  Although I hear these are pretty fuggin nice.

   After two advisor tours in the Ramadi/Fallujah/Thar Thar area, I've found that the bulky built-in bipod things are too outrageous and bulky for real work; the Knights Armament grip, that is just a basic grip, is light, unobtrusive and serves its intended purpose.  On long dismounted patrols, it served to rest on a strategically placed mag pouch and, combined with a 20-round mag of Mk 262, nestled nicely when walking or running.  Three other mags were HKs and  the rest were GI...but I digress.  
The most basic, cheapest, and durable looks to be the KAC, although not as glamorous to impress the wannabee neighbors in the gun room.

If you only need to carry a single CR123 battery, I really like the Tango Down stubby grip.  I've also been playing around with the new Cadex fold-up grip and am liking it a lot more than I thought I would!

I forgot about the stubby one...which, I suspect might be even better; as for the batteries....when has anyone here been on a mission long enough to run through a set of batteries?  I went through one set, which were actually used only a few fleeting moments here and there, and thrown away still charged at the end.  Carry cigarettes inthere instead; we are all smokers when times get hard...  which grips store extra smokes and a shot of whiskey?

I have a Larue on a DD m4 7.0 rail. It locks up nice and tight. I highly encourage you to go with Larue.
