Has anybody noticed any actual benefit from using the new green reticles?  I've heard that there is supposed to be a benefit but I wanted to hear people's input.

Thanks

Who's putting these out?

I assume you are referring to the green reticles on the ACOGs.  Browse down the site a bit and look at comments related to the TA33-GH.  Deemed better than red and amber in some light conditions by a number of folks.  I ordered one on Tues but won't get it until tomorrow so I can only refer you to the experience of others.

FWIW

If you look at laser pointers, green lasers (high quality ones at least) are the most visible in low light conditions.

Sorry for not clarifying - I'm looking at some TA31's.  More specifically, the TA31H / TA31H-G.
Thanks for your input!

Green is the easiest spectrum for the human eye to see.

That being said... I have a hard time justifying a green reticle hunting/shooting near corn/bean/grass fields!

Green is easiest to see with clarity (notice most cars use green dash lights?) but red doesn't hurt night vision (natural, not electronic) as much (notice BMWs and airplanes use red cockpit lights).

I have the TA33G-H and love the visibility of the green reticle.

And it does not get lost on green foliage (tree leaves/grass/etc.).

True, the "green" is florescent and readily contrasts with foliage.

Green contrasts the red Acorn tee shirts much better.....

That made me laugh...thanks!

Also people who are color blind in the red spectrum like myself, find that Red reticules during the day, can easily be lost. I hate my aimpoint at time because of my eyes!
Green on the other hand is the complete opposite for me....It is very bright.

While green lasers beat red lasers hands down, i find green reticules to blend in and do not provide the contrast red reticules do.

"Damn your eyes!"

What color works best is really subjective.  For me, the green doesn't even come close to getting lost in foliage, but the red does especially when I'm under a canopy of trees.  Amber works best for me all the way around.

It's preference.  I'm a red man.

The simple answer is that your eye is more receptive to green light

I wonder how the green reticle shows up in NVG's? Is it NVG capapable?

Why in the hell would a $2000 scope not have green, red and black switchable reticles like the $79.95 scopes?

i have a strikefire and as far as i am concerned they can take the red led out of mine i only use green.

People talk out of their asses all the time about the latest and greatest "color on the block" because they want to convince themselves that the new scope that they just bought with the new reticle color is superior to everyone elses.  Trijicon acually commissioned a study from a major university to determine which color the human eye picked up the best.  The winner in that study; amber.  (I personally can't stand amber reticles.)  Everyone's eyes are different, so you need to look through the scopes with different colored reticles yourself to see which is best suited for your needs.

For an objective look at the green and red reticles in the Trijicon TR-24 scopes, see the pictures below.  The first picture shows the reticles in complete darkness.  The second picture shows the reticles with only the light from the weapon mounted Surefire X300.

I have the green donut of death ACOG.

I really really really like the green reticle.

IME, not even close to a color found on trees etc in the SE US.

Look through both and find what you like.
