Saw your post on the 7.62 x 39 and do a lot of loading for it myself. Mainly using the Speer 125 TNT and 26 grains of AA 1680. My is a 16" I'll bet yours is a 20 to get the velocities you mention. So what powder do you use most? Vita V 130 works awesome also, especially with heavier bullets, did you see my post on the 155 Sierra's and the 175 Sierra velocities?
308 I did read your post the 155 and 175 velocities. I got my load out of Speer #12 manuel. Shows the 123 and 125 gr .311 bullets at 2405fps using 26 grains of IMR4198. I load a 130gr .308 bullet as my barrel is .308 not .311. I started at 24grains and worked to 26 which is a compressed charge. My chrony showed an aver age of 2390 fps for 10 shots out of a 16 in bbl. I have no high pressure signs and think I could probably use a little more powder if I could get it in the case. But I am happy with this load and its effect on deer. By the way my gun is a Colt Factory Sporter that they only made for a couple of years.
Griffy, Thanks for the reply. I have killed several whitetail deer and mountain lion with the 7.62, and it's awesome as you know. I first used the 150 Nosler BT (7 ptr & lion) but wanted a little more expansion. Velocity was 2250 with that load in my Sako bolt 7.62 x 39. I will try your load, after working up to it... good shooting and thanks again for the reply.
