Okay, I grabbed a Tango Down grip today at the gunshop. Too thin.

Is there another battery-grip that is thicker? What do you all think of that Fobus? (everything I've ever had that was Fobus was crap, will this be the same?)

Are you talking about the pistol grip below the reciever or the vertical foregrip hanging from a rail system?

If you mean the pistol grip then I fully endorse the Fobus (First Saamco) model with the finger grooves.  The Ergo grip is waaaay to thin for my hands, especially in the lower palm curve.

Thanks. That's what I meant. Sorry I should have been clearer.

NOT the foreward pistol grip, the rear one.

So First Samco put out a good product for once? This one won't chip or wear or piss me off for being less-than-durable?

Falcon Industries(Ergo Grip people)  makes a FN-FAL style grip for the AR which is great I got one couple weeks ago its wide in the right places , it doesn't have storage but I think a plug could be made , but in any event the the area doesn't appear large enough to hold only 1 123CR lithium battery anyway , so if you interested in a grip that you can grab try it , its only $15.00 ! Has the tang on the upper portion doesn't effect standard hold its just wider and canted rearward a bit . Other than that , thumbs up on it .

Kinda partial to the Hogue grip, myself. Not sure what kinda of battery you need to carry, but a standard A2 grip plug fits just fine. Got mine from Midway for $15

Unfortunately, the new Magpul grips are 4-8 weeks out.

I fully recommend the Fobus/First Samco G27 grip. It is wide, comfortable and well-made. Only down side is that it is right-handed only. I had an A2 storage grip for years which functioned fine for me, and almost went with a Tango Down grip. One other thing I didn't like with the Tango Down grip is that you are limited to ONLY carrying batteries in the storage compartment of that grip.
In addition to being the best grip I've tried, I think the G27 just looks the coolest.

I got a hogue and I like it better than the stock one.  Yet it looks like some of them wider ones might be even better.  I'll stick with this one for now though.  It doesn't slip as much as the other one.
