On billet lower receivers, what is the preference  as far as the trigger guard. Integral with extra thumb clearance machined in, or removable? Thanks in advance. Craig

I have always bought the standard triggerguard receivers. Having the option to change it out for something else is a factor to me.

The built in triggerguard appeals to the folks who are scared of breaking off the tabs on a standard receiver

Integral. Fewer parts, nothing to break, good lines.

Integral looks better... usually, but I like the ability to change them out in case I happen to ever need a bigger one, or better yet the enlarged ones that still can be dropped for use with trigger finger mittens.  Just in case I ever decide to move to Alaska or something silly.

All of the integral trigger guards of which I am aware are enlarged for use with gloves.

The separate trigger guard looks like an afterthought to me, but i use billet lowers for reasons other than that.

I have lowers of both kinds.  I much prefer the lowers that maintain the ability to switch out trigger guards if I want.  The ones I have with the TG machined in are not my favorites and I have actually cut out two of them so I could put in a Mag-Pul enhanced TG.  I only wish my LRs could be had with a changeable trigger guard.  At least the TM LR lower has the shape that I like but the three DPMS LR lowers, the flat TG annoys me every time I look at them.  Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of room to get a gloved finger in there on the LR lowers but I just like the looks of the arced TM Mag-Pul type better, and is what I put on all my AR lowers where there is not as much room in the TG as there is on the LRs.
I like options, fixed trigger guards remove an option I like, and the pregnant belly of the POF lower, God I hate the looks of that monstrosity.  Good lower though other than the pregnant trigger guard.

Another vote for integral.

The reason I asked, I machine an integral. The handfull of dealers I do lowers for, I don't think would tell me. I cator to them pretty good with custom serial # and their own model numbers, so I think that they might  think they would be rocking the boat. You know, kind of like Obamas advisers all telling him what a great job he is doing because they think that is what he wants to hear. I profile my guard to look like a std guard at arms length. It has an additional .100 finger clearance. I do not do the pregnant guppy look. I personally do not care for that. After all the input, I think I will tool up to offer both. It is not that big a deal. Thanks again. Craig
