| I know that if the ban sunsets pre ban weapons will drop in value but the good ones such as NIB SP1's and green label NIB 6520's they wont loose to much would they , seeing how they are still a fairly old and rare gun.Any input would be helpful im gettin a little nervous holding on to these |

Here's what I see happening: 1: If you have (as an Oly fan, it troubles me to say this, but it's true) a Colt SP1, or a 6520, they won't be worthless. They'll surely lose some of their value, but you have to expect that. The ban has artifically inflated their value, and the sunset, if it's allowed to happen, will correct this. Simple supply and demand. 2: If you have a pre-ban rifle from a manufacturer with a shitty reputation, it's going to be worth what a shitty weapon should be worth. Personally, if I had a pre-ban I'd hold on to it. There's no guarantee that some new legislation won't reinstate the ban without reinstating the ban, if you know what I mean. Plus, you have to think that a lot of folks with these pre-bans are going to be trying to unload them-you'll lose more money now, in my opinion, than later, when the price stabilizes. |

Plus Colt may not jump on the whole preban style thing to stay out of the lime light. Right or wrong, Colts I think will hold there value. |
| The only reason I bought pre-ban was to piss off the "Gang of Four" Schumer, Feinstein, Kennedy, now Kerry. I also bought them because...I like them! If the AWB lapses, the "Gang of Four" will still be pissed. If its extended, I grandfather my pre-bans and they're still pissed. If they lose value. So what! I bought them for MY pleasure. To hold, to caress, to shoot, and keep the "Gang of Four"...pissed. |

Quoted: If they don't pass a bill to protect the gun manufactures from law suites there might not be anyone around to make them. Not one gun manufacturer has lost a lawsuit that they would have otherwise avoided with the legisaltion that was attemtped last week. It would be nice to have that law on the books, but not necessary. |

Philibuster, senate, nothing. What will motivate Tom Delay to get around to giving any time to a House version of an AW ban? In the Senate, it won; but was close; but look at the makeup of the house, it's chock full of pro-gun republicans, and Democrats who are ****-scared of getting it like they got it in 94. Again, though, there isn't the SLIGHTEST reason for Tom Delay to let it come up. Nada, zilch. |

Quoted: The manufacturers will still have to pay lawyers to defend against those lawsuits. That's the real concern-the use of these lawsuits to drive the industry out of business. Agreed. The civilian gun manufacturing industry here in the US is very small - only something like $2 Billion per year in annual sales. I don't believe the entire industry would make the Fortune 500. 5sub |

The only reason I have sold some prebans is to gather up enough cash for more NFA. The prices are going up so fast on MGs that it was now or never... I do think that if people got some preban guns for investments as opposed to collections that they are dumping them and prices are falling as a result, and they will continue to do so unless the ban is renewed, or Kerry gets elected. That's a possibility which cannot be ignored. Unfortunately there is all the time in the world for an anti-gun democrat to get elected sometime in the future, and the balance of power in the legislature waxes and wanes over time, too. More states are likely to ban these guns over time, even normally progun people are not willing to lift a finger to defend AWs because they look so "dangerous", and face it, there just aren't very many of us AW owners out there to influence the congress. So get them while you can, enjoy them because one day you might have a Kali style ban in your state too. |
