I need to choose between the following two AR's:

Sig M400 Enhanced Carbine (FDE Magpul buttstock, grip, front end, & sight) - $1,020

M&P 15T (Midlength) Free floating quad rail & Magpul flip sights but standard buttstock and grip - $1,029

I prefer the Magpul furniture on the Sig over a quad rail but would not mind having the middy over the carbine.

Thoughts??

Also, the Sig has a chrome lined barrel and the M&P does not.

Sig M400 I have one and its tits. Someone will come along soon though and tell you that your AR is crap if it is not a Colt.......

Option 3.  Look at a rifle that has everything you want.

Like another poster said, M&P is non-chromed (for me that was a no-go) the Sig is nice (I would pass cause I wanted a mid-length).

Does the Sig have everything you want?  Does the M&P?  IF you answered "no" to either of those, then neither rifle is for you.

The carbine is fine with me. I had a Colt LE6920 MOE that I sold for a profit with all the black rifle craze hit. I was really fine with the carbine but just thought a middy at near the same price may be the way to go.

I am leaning toward the Sig honestly but didn't know if the middy outweighed the options on the Sig.

M&P.

Middie is a + for me. Also, those that have the melonite treated barrel are big fans. I don't see that as a negative compared to chrome lined.

Good friend has the M400 and it's a nice rifle.  I'm currently building a middie, though

Yea they don't chrome line melonite.  I don't have the life experience to say so YET but word on melonite is it lasts longer than chrome.  I have chrome, SS, and melonite barrels at home someday I hope to actually shoot one out.  Gonna have to pick one and go with it and not trade it off if that's gonna happen.

I would take the SIG because I love their lower. Much easier to replace an upper (or barrel if you build) if you decide you want a midlength than replacing the lower with one w/ built in QDs.

+1 and the M&P uses a UTG style rail.

Yeah, all I've had is chrome lined.  However, the melonite on my M&P pistol slides hasn't held up well enough for me to want it in my barrel.

I like a Middy too, but between these two I would go with the Sig.

/my two cents.
