| Anyone ever made a vise fixture from a magazine? I've got a orlite 30 rounder with a busted lip that double-feeds so as a magazine it's worthless. I figured I'd save the spring and follower for spares and fill the body up with epoxy or something to make it solid. Any filler suggestions? |

I have one a buddys friend made (you know a friend of a friend type deal), it is made from some very dense hard wood with the spline on the back like a mag and a notch routed for the mag catch. It fits the well tight enough not to move around much and is hard enough to take being clamped in a large vice. Try getting a piece of hard maple or oak, they should hold up as well as any polymer block. One thing you need to do though is thoroughly seal the wood, otherwise it will swell in high humidity and it will not go in the mage well. |
