Getting ready to replace standard hammer with 9mm hammer.  Do I need to apply any downward pressure or hold the hammer at any particular angle while pushing the pin out.  Or, do I just push it out while it's in it's normal un-cocked position?

Thanks

As I found out when replacing a 9mm hammer with a "bobbed M16" hammer, this is the simplest, easiest part to change on an AR.  Control the hammer as the pin clears its holes or it'll pop out, but not far.  Pushing in the new one against its spring while lining up the pin in the holes isn't hard at all.

I'm replacing my DPMS hammer with a RRA 9mm hammer until I can get my bolt ramped.  At which point I'll go back to the DPMS hammer.

I just put my carbine back together after messing it up (long story), so my next trick is to get the bolt ramped.  But the DPMS hammer works fine with the standard RRA bolt too.  There's a little more contact area on the DPMS hammer than the 9mm hammer...not enough for a "now and then" shooter like me (for now) to worry about.

P.S.: Thanks for reminding me that I wanted to get my bolt ramped!  I just did some inquiring about it with ADCO...
