I would like to buy a good set of handguards for a 20 in AR My upper does not have a triangle handguard retainer. Is this normal? Any help? |

All the full rifle length HGs I've seen were essentially the same quality. The good vs crappy stuff all seems to be in the carbine HGs. Any name brand pieces should be just fine. Triangle front bands are standard for the earlier rifles but currently barrel makers use round bands. You'll note, when you get your HGs that the front retainer tabs are arranged so they can be used with either triangle or round bands.

I have a set of 20” HG’s that I received from a vendor here on this site. I won’t mention names, but these HG’s are not of very good quality and appear to be QC rejects. The biggest flaw.....the heat shields do not fit properly and the vent holes do not line up. I have no immediate use for them so they sit in my spares locker. I’ll hang on to them though cause you never know what project I might be able to salvage them for. |
