Sub 26" - hand stop similar to a gear sector, legal or not?  Documentation to back it?

Legal, It is not a vertical fore grip.
The letter has been posted before, it should be easy to find on the internet

You should ask the ATF to write you a letter that you think it could be misused and want to know what their opinion is...

Or enjoy life the way you want to and don't try selling or advising people things.  I'm of the opinion that 80% can be built into anything as personal use. Except full auto or silenced as that is engineering it to be repurposed. But I also think my opinion is unique and would not find favor with anyone. It's just a collection of random thoughts.

ATF run amok.  How can they just "DECREE" that something is illegal without a law to back it up.  I looked it up and see that it was challenged in court and they lost but dropped the suit to not establish precidence. Smarmy bastards.

Yeah but adding one makes the gun kill people

Shit law for real. Having better control of a pistol should be allowed

Indeed, the whole point of the brace is to keep better control of the gun, but they don't want us to use a forward grip because that would be [b]too much control[/]. But it really isn't too much control, it's just another place to put your hand besides the handguard, and actually I can't think of any professional shooters who prefer a forward grip for stabilization. It makes no sense except that they don't want us to have guns that look cool!

SBR Laws are just stupid, but this is what we live with now. So we also live with the ATF making stupid arbitrary rules.

To answer the OPs question handstops and Angled foregrips are good to go.

Vertical foregrips are not unless the OAL is 26" or greater.
