Building up my cache of HK AR mags, and was wondering if anyone had breakdown instructions for these things? A link, photo copy, anything showing breakdown on the Gen II mags would be greatly appreciated!

I just picked one up at the National Gun Show. Did a search here and in the archives (which is where I found the only answer), but it still took me a minute to figure it out. Basically, I used a metal punch to insert into the hole in the bottom of the floor plate. I then pushed the punch back towards the rubber stopper until the front lip of the floor plate popped out of its groove. Then the floor plate just pops out and the rest is self-explanatory. One thing to note, the metal punch does scrape the floor plate. I kept getting this black dust like stuff on my hands and only after did I realize what it was. Really just cosmetic and not that much to boot, but something to be aware of. I kind of picked at the rubber stopper to see if I could remove it, but in the end I just had to get something that could provide the leverage needed. Once I got it open I realized that the rubber stopper isn’t supposed to come out, so I’m glad I didn’t’ try that too hard. |
