I just received an H&R a1 upper & noticed that it did not have a chrome lined bore. The chamber is chromed but not the extension or the bore. I am considering sending it back, but I'd like to get some input as to the pros & cons of this configuration before I decide what to do. What do you all think? Is a non-chromed bore less desireable? Are they unusual to come across? What should do, keep it or exchange it? Ibeskid |

A non chrome lined bore is fine. You and I will probably not put the rifle through the conditions that it would be put through if it was a combat rifle. Take care of the bore by keeping it clean(not over clean). If you are going to send it back, I'll buy it from you. |
| There are several folks here who would love an H&R upper w/non-chrome lined bore. Depends on why you bought it. IMO the H&R uppers are a little more uncommon, but should bring about the same price as the Colt. If you want 'the real deal' then that's what you have. If you want something that's chrome-lined and will stabilize heavier bullets, then you'll have to build a 'look alike', which I can totally respect. CMMG has chrome-lined 20" A1 barrels in 1:7 BTW. |
