I have a barrel that came of a RRA NM rifle, it's a thick and heavy barrel.  I'm trying to find a standard A2 type handguard and end cap that will fit around the barrel.   Anyone know where I can find them?  I really don't want to use the FF tubes that come with standard varmint barrels.

The National Match rifle had a Internal FF rail Kind of a tube that goes over the barrel. Then the handgard cap was attached to that. I am not sure if a std. HB Handgard cap would work? Call RRA and ask? Then just use a std. set of handgards.

I'll give them a call after the holliday weekend, but I dont think RRA makes them just because they have ff tubes on their nm rifles.  Thanks!

"Varmint/Bull" barrels and "Heavy" barrels are different animals.
Bull barrels will have a gas block seat diameter of 15/16" (0.937") while almost all other barrels are 3/4" (0.750").
Measure your barrel and tell us what you have.

If you have a Bull barrel, DPMS does make a front sight base for it.
You are going to have to open up a handguard cap to fit though.

Here is a bull barreled (and freefloated) upper with A2 front sight on it.

If that's basically what you are after, I can open up a handguard cap for you.
You MAY also need to open up the barrel nut depending on the profile of the bull barrel.
Regular barrel nuts only clear a 1" diameter barrel while many bull barrels are 1.050" in diameter.

Ask Steve in the RRA section of the industry forum.  He is quick to answer all questions

Where the gas block seats it's .75
underneath the hg where end cap goes it's about 9.5
barrel nut seems to be 1"

But if the end cap is opened up, don't the hg's need to be modified as well?

This is completely normal.
Any standard handguard cap will work.

Really?  I measured the end cap area from a standard service rifle and it was smaller.  I'll just give it a try, end caps + HG's are like 18 bucks anyway.  Thanks for the help!
