My new Del-Ton M4 kit Arrived this past week and the rifle looks great, however I am wanting to replace the plastic handguard with my Midwest Industries 2 piece, and I can NOT get it on for the life of me. I have the tool and it will just not go on there. I'm even having trouble putting the plastics back on there. the front gas block is a YHM flip up front, I'm wondering if maybe its just a little too far back or what? any help appreciated. Thanks

You have the tool and still can't remove the handgaurd? Ask a friend to help, one uses the tool to relieve the spring tension, the other actully removes the handgaurd. I can do this by myself and I'm really weak for 53 years old.

I have the tool and i CAN remove it, but cannot put the new one on. I have done this many times by myself and even asked my buddy to help me. I even took it up to the local gun shop earlier and they could not get it on.

I think I bought the same MI handguard!

After about an hour of trying, I was ready to stick it back in the box and ship it back (and I mess with handguards all the time).  I was CONVINCED it was defective and/or the wrong HG.  I don't give up easy, though.  Believe it or not, it WILL fit.  Pull the D-Ring ALL the way down, get the bottom rail kinda wedged in there, and give it a WHACK (or 2, or 3) with the palm of your hand.......POP, in it goes.

I've found the tolerances on the MI guards are TIGHT, which makes for a great, stable rail, but they are a BITCH to install.  You'll be swearin' at them before it's over.

Funny thing is, I have had this exact handguard on another rifle prior to this one, didnt have near this amount of trouble. Is it possible something is not right with the Rifle?

MI Rails - check them for spec before you put them on.

Ask me how I know

My only concern here guys is that I have actually had this handguard on another rifle, so I dont think the handguard is the issue

I would guess the FSB is back slightly. It doesn't take much.

Try putting the old ones back on and see if it's as tight.
