Hey guys/gals, have another question for ya. I currently have a RRA upper basic CAR handguards like this. I just purchased an EOTech 512 and the probably I'm running into the the size (length) of it. I will be adding a Magpul MBUS for my backups, and when I push the EOTech as far forward on the rail as it will go, I am only left with 1 notch to mount something. If I move the EOTech to the next notch, it will hit the handguards and not sit flush with the upper. I love the look of the standard handguards, and would prefer to not have to go to a quad rail. Is there anyway to change/mod the handguards to be able to move the EOTech forward any? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Maybe a riser will put the nose of the 512 over the handguard, like this
Eotech riser
or
another riser

The Magpul MOE handguards should solve that problem.  They're not as tall as M4 handguard uppers and allow overhead clearance in front of the picatinny rail slots on the upper.  I do *not* know exactly how they compare to CAR grip height, but I've seen examples of Eotechs extending forward of the delta ring.

No, I do not own the MOE, but as I said, have seen them work.

Good luck whatever you look into.

As I understand it, CAR handguards are the smallest. This may allow the positioning you're looking for.

This is the quickest online link I could find showing pictures.  I can't show you what I saw at gunshows.   :)

Yes, I can tell the difference between CAR and M4 grips.  Yes, this only shows them compared to M4s.  But it *does* show them working.

Used without the poster's permission, I didn't contact him and ask, but I can't imagine he wants to keep info he posted on the intertubes a secret.

This is true of Stickman's site as well.

Any and all posting faux pas' are mine.

I think the Eotech model 512 sits 7mm lower and may not work as good without a riser when using the Backup sights.
A riser would bring the 512 up and over the handguard and be a good hight for the BUS.

I'm sorry.  I was not aware that the optic would have a lower baseline than any other optic.  My apologies for being uninformed.

I thank you for giving me something to be wary of in future.

I have a few Eotech models the 516, 556 and they are higher than some of the other models.
If you think of getting one later its good to know what model works for what you need.
A good place to find out Eotech specs
