[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Handguard Mounting Question

On an A2 M4gery upper, is there any downside to using a free float handguard (such as the Daniel Defense or Larue) to mount an Aimpoint or EOTech to cowitness with the A2 sights? I notice that this is not very popular but it appears to be a viable option based on this photo in the "sandbox" thread;
