Hello to all, I am new to this forum and have a question about free-float hand guards. I just purchased a DPMS AP4, carbine-length, 5.56. I want to install a longer hand guard, loose the fixed front sight, and replace with a flip-up BUIS type sight. I know the front sight doubles as a gas block, and a low-profile gas block can be used in its place. What is the best way/ best brands of gas blocks and hand guards to use? I am trying to learn as much as fast as possible about various combinations I can use. Thanks in advance.

Call DPMS tech support; to verify the barrel diameter. Then find a low prifile gas block from one of many mfg's that will fit. Yankee hill machine and Midwest industries are two places to start for the gas block.

Gas blocks: YHM, VLTOR, KAC, MIDWEST INDUSTRIES, numerous others
Free float rails: DANIEL DEFENSE, LARUE, MIDWEST INDUSTRIES, KAC, YHM,
Remember that with some free floats you must remove the barrel and with others they come as a two piece and you need only remove (cut off(CAREFULLY)) the DELTA RING.
Hope this helps!
