I'm building a rifle, with a gas block in the pistol position, but want a full length floating handguard.  The custom gas block I want to use has a little lever on it, so that you can turn the gas off completely to make it a single shot, open a little bit for full power loads, and open a lot for cycling the action with subsonic loads.  He does make a block for a .750" barrel, that will just fit under a 1.75" ID round handguard, like a YHM, but I'd like to go with a larger barrel counour, which means a larger gas block.

What would be Ideal, would be a handguard that is full floating, so it has its own barrel nut, and 2 piece, so I can bolt the 2 halves together over top of the barrel nut, rather that screwing them onto the barrel nut.  This way, I could Dremel out a slot where the gas block would protrude slightly.  A floating tube that screws on won't work. because you would never be able to line it up to thread it on, unless it was a 2" ID tube.

Anything out there like what I'm looking for?

The other option would be to contour th first 5-1/2" of barrel .750, then larger after that, but I would think that accuracy would probably suffer.
