I have a 20" RRA varmint rifle. I would like to replace the current handguard with something that vents more air around the barrel for better cooling. I have looked at JP and have one on another rifle. I am looking for input on any other brand out there that may compare. I am not looking for tactical style handguards but rather smooth handguards. Any input into handguards that work well while being light wou;d be helpful. On a side note, how strong are the carbon fiber handguards by Clark and Armalite? Strong enough for a 15 lbs rifle and heavy bipod use? Thanks.

Yankee Hill makes some rifle-length FF handguards.  They'd be smooth when you bought them, and could remain that way if you wished, but they also allow for the additon of portions of rail at different points of their length, such that you could mount a bipod etc, and leave the rest of the forearm smooth.

I don't own one of these, but they seem like they'd work well for what you intend
