Greetings-
I'm looking for some advice on handguards. I'm building a rifle w/ a 16" barrel (mid-length type) curious as to what kind of guards i can run with this set-up. I would like the guard to cover almost 75% of the barrel and from what i can find from MI is only 9" total length. Any help would be appreciated.

so you want a 14+ inch handguard and youll need a gas block to fit under that....

A 9" rail(or midlength rail) would end right behind the gas block or FSB on a mid-length barrel. You want a 12" rail(rifle length) to cover what you are talking about.

As long as you build with a low profile gas block, you can use whatever length or brand handguard you wish...pretty much...

also try troy industries www.troyind.com
there are many solutions.
the only recommendation i have seen, which makes a lot of sense to me, is to not cover your muzzle brake or flash hider with the rail....but on a 16 inch barrel, you should be fine

Here is what a 15" rail looks like on a 16" barrel.

The rail is a Geissele SMR MK1 rail
