I'm currently trying to resolve an issue I'm having with my Adams Arms handguard fit, but really it's a universal question. The handguard set included on my Adams Arms upper (mid length) do not have any notch or cut in the top edge. This causes the handguard to not ride all the way into the retainer cap and lets the cap "nubs" ride over it, thus causing retainer cap rotation. This is an issue for me, as those nubs are all that stops the retainer from interfering with my piston system. I was going to just file/dremel some relief cuts in the lip of the supplied M4 style handguard, but then noticed it wouldn't do much good as the handguard does not fill the entire width of the cap.
So... can anyone please tell me if their handguards are notched to allow the retainer cap "nubs" to stop rotation? Are are the nubs typically for tighter fit?
The Adams Arms mid length I have uses a ROUND retainer cap, so it rotates unless those nubs can be locked in some how. Would a MOE handguard fill the entire width of the retainer cap, and use slots/cut outs for the "nubs"?
First AR here, so I have nothing to compare this to.
Thank you for any info/feedback!
