Was at a gun shop yesterday and they had a LMT, 16" bbl and it is well made, the interchangable barrel is nice and I finally see why the LMT stock cost so much, it is tight and very well made.... Now, I do not want to get flammed, but I don't see where it is that much better than my RRA....I know the upper is very innovative and I can see the flexibility, but the bolt carrier, the lower and the charge handle....IMO my RRA is every bit as well made... Will I get a LMT? I am thinking about it..... I will get a LMT stock for some of my builds.. 77Bronc |
![]() ![]() Security! We got an escapee from GD again....... As to the OP's question, LMT is in the Tier one slot along with Colt and others. RRA as well as Bushmaster (and others) are considered to be Tier two. Not sure why, however based on my experience with all three mentioned above, I have come to the conclusion that LMT is the best AR platform out today straight off the shelf IMHO. You will not be disappointed with a LMT purchase. In the end it will be your own choice to make. Good luck and stay safe. |

I own a LMT 14.5" M4 with a LCW lower (made by LMT) that I really like. I also have a LMT Defender lower (w/ SOPMOD, 2-stage trigger, and ERGO grip) that is going underneath a new LMT 16" Standard M4 upper (w/ LMT FA BCG) I just ordered last night. As well, I have another LMT Defender lower (w/ LMT M4 stock, standard trigger, and ERGO grip) on order that will ship next week. A slightly used CMMG 14.5" M4 upper is going on it. LMT is well worth the money you spend. You cannot go wrong with them. |
That is really cool man. |

Thanks for the feedback.....I am really thinking hard about the LMT. I am going to do more research and looking....is there a location/summary about the PMI and testing process LMT goes through for their rifles? Tonkaman, your reply just supports my conclusion, there is a % of the population that should not be allowed a keyboard.....oh yes I forgot......PERIOD. |

I love my RRA. Would i buy a lmt? NO... Mine shoots perfect with no problems. If i was a leo or mil, my RRA would be a door stop i think. Until my paper shoots back im cool. Not exactly stock with JP springs and some fixins.... scope and american defense recon mount will be here next week. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm83/cashman28/P1010285.jpg |
Get a GD LMT SOPMOD stock on there asap! and that's an order Mr. ! |
What is rack grade? |
No thanks, not wasting money for a stock that is almost the same as I have. I'm waiting for something else though. |
| i saw my first LMT as well at a shop the other day, after reading everything here i think my expectations were a little bit high. I am sure the rifle is the cats ass as far as reliability but this particular one had really poor fit and finish, I was more than surprised by it. Still had a hard time walking out without purchasing it though. |

Perhaps some ornery son of a bitch in New Hampshire could have simply shipped it back to LMT for an exchange, or marked it down $25 as a blem and sold it to somebody who wouldn't have cared. I'm not embarassed to ask a seller to inspect the item before shipping it out to me. Some sellers are much more accomodating with this sought of request then others. Ask me how I know. |
POOR FIT what do you mean?? |
If the OLY lower is Okay Then I wouldnt have a problem with it I happen To have a Home Built LMT M4 Bushy Lower VLTOR LMT 14.5 EOTECH 551 its just as accurate as my DEFENDER 2000 |
+1 Best stock ever made Much much better than my VLTOR |
The best way to find out if your gear is good to go is to take a carbine course and run 1000+ rounds through it in a period of two days. That would probably stress it to a point where you'll have an idea of any trouble spots that need to be addressed. You will find out pretty quickly what works and what doesn't. This includes your other gear aside from your weapon (how your gear is arranged, mag pouches, etc...). On that note, I have a LMT, Colt, CMMG & Noveske. |
As soon as I get my Carbine the first thing to do is to shoot a case of ammo might take me two days Hanguns I just shoot 500rds I use to have a shooting range in my back yard so Tatical shooting was a must Now I have to shoot off a Bench at a range GOD its terrible |
First off, I will say that RRA makes a perfectly acceptable AR. This is not knock on you, your rifle, or Rock River Arms. It would not bother me to carry an RRA into a gunfight. ... However ... Here on arfcom we frequently find the attitude of "well paper doesn't shoot back, so X is perfectly OK". True, some people are just buying plinkers or range toys and so their rifles do not need to meet certain criteria of reliability or durability. But that still doesnt change the fact that a lot of those same people who "can't afford" one of those nicer AR's - which they insist are overpriced and simply a matter of snobbery - will put out $600 on a bottom of the barrel crapkit AR, and then toss $400 worth of chinese crap on them to make them all tacti-cool. Is it OK if any of that stuff craps out while shooting paper on the range? Sure. But it still shows piss poor planning and impulse control 4 rifles later when they have a safe full of them and still sit round here posting about how the rest of us are snobs. Even if you just want to look cool at the range, it makes sense to shoot for some minimum of longevity in your equipment.
If you want a pretty rifle, buy an RRA. I could care less about fit and finish as long as there aren't any sharp edges and it doesn't impede funtion, because it's going to be covered in krylon anyways. I'm sure LMT could care less too if it wasn't for the fact that it's a price of doing business with civilian shooters. People make, and buy, weapons for different purposes. |

Good feedback, I started with RRA after owning a RRA 1911, I will say this with 100% confidence, this is the finest 1911 made period.....I may not be as well schooled in ARs, but 1911's I know real well.... I do believe I will get a LMT soon, from what I have read, there are some real pro's to the LMT.... I do disagree with one of the comments though, my RRA would not be a door stop....I can assure you of that....I have many thousands of rounds through my RRA's, never, I mean never a FTE, FTF, mis fire, jam nothing......tight fit, no rattles, no signs of excessive wear (I watch this close).... 77 |
