Does anyone have any kind of reloading data for 7.92x33? I went to the local Gander Mountain today (first time there...goddamn, I gotta buy stock in that company), and checked out their reloading manuals...none of them listed 8mm Kurtz. They all had loads for 8mm Mauser... Reason I ask, I have a couple hundred rounds of 8mm Kurtz, and I may have a cause to shoot it on. Problem is...finding 8mm Kurtz is an expensive proposition these days, and a couple hundred rounds won't be enough to sate my appetite. If it's cheaper to load on my own (buy brass, bullets, etc) then I'll figure it out and do it. But, I can't seem to find any kind of authortative loading data (or any at all for that matter)... Any ideas? |

Someone has an StG44? I don't remember ever seeing anyone selling that brass. Obviously 8mm bullets are available, but without the brass, they won't do you much good. Perhaps Norma makes it; they make lots of funky Euro calibers. I'd imagine that the ammo you do have is Berdan primed. You *can* get Berdan primers, but they are such an incredible pain to use that I'd have to be really desperate to bother. I also didn't find any reloading data for that caliber, though that in itself isn't a deal-breaker. -Troy |

I don't have the powder data, but use Remington 125 grain bullets. No one makes the ammo or brass anymore. Make your own brass. Cut down .30-06 or even better, .270 Winchester brass. You will need a die, but they are not hard to get. lee or RCBS can make them for you or already have them. If all else fails, try C&H tool & die. They will have a die or can make one up for you real quick. I have couple of friends with the rigfles, they have found the old military ammo is mostly all steel cased and is very unreliable. For $1.50 per round, it is better to roll your own. It is a sweet shooting rifle, IMO, much better then the G-3 series that came from it. |
