My mistake! What the hell is a shill? A shill, plant or stooge is a person who helps a person or organization without disclosing that he or she has a close relationship with that person or organization. Shill typically refers to someone who purposely gives onlookers the impression that he or she is an enthusiastic independent customer of a seller (or marketer of ideas) that he or she is secretly working for. The person or group that hires the shill is using crowd psychology, to encourage other onlookers or audience members to purchase the goods or services (or accept the ideas being marketed). Shills are often employed by confidence artists. Plant and stooge more commonly refer to any person who is secretly in league with another person or organization while pretending to be neutral or actually a part of the organization he or she is planted in, such as a magician's audience, a political party, or an intelligence organization (see double agent). Shilling is illegal in many circumstances and in many jurisdictions[1] because of the frequently fraudulent and damaging character of the shill's actions. However, if a shill does not place uninformed parties at a risk of loss, but merely generates "buzz", the shill's actions may be legal. For example, a person planted in an audience to laugh and applaud when desired (see claque), or to participate in on-stage activities as a "random member of the audience", is a type of legal shill. "Shill" can also be used pejoratively to describe a critic who appears either all-too-eager to heap glowing praise upon mediocre offerings, or who acts as an apologist for glaring flaws. In this sense, they would be an implicit "shill" for the industry at large, possibly because their income is tied to its prosperity. The origin of the term shill is uncertain; it may be an abbreviation of shillaber. The word originally denoted a carnival worker who pretended to be a member of the audience in an attempt to elicit interest in an attraction. Some sources trace the usage only back to 1914. |

Quoted: Well call me one if you wish like I said I dont care! I just happened to read about them in a magazine this month and since I dont know a great deal about AR's I thought I'd ask! I apologize for doing so! Sorry how this thread went but it is pretty common for companies to open accounts here and pretend to be customers and say how great they are as advertising. We had a very well known individual in the firearms industry who had several accounts here for years posting false information about his companies rifles, plenty of other industry people have been caught doing that here also. That said if there is a question as to whether someone is shilling please report the thread instead of hijacking it with name calling. |

Hopefully I make this clear enough for those of you with your head up your asses to understand! I am in no way affiliated with HDP! Yes I am from that area of GA! Do I know people they may be affiliated? Probably as they test their products at the old Warbell Mercenary camp, I worked for the Warbells many years ago at Brigade Quartermasters which they owned and started I also studied Martial arts under Jason Lau who was an instructor at that camp!. The camp later became a paintball field and yes I played paintball there! Now it is a training facility for local SWAT teams. Some other privileged few can go shooting there, I am NOT one of them but one of my best friends from HS. is ! In 86 I left for the USMC until 90 when I got out and went to France for the next 10 yrs serving in the Foreign Legion. In 2000 I came back to the US but to MO. I was there till 2003 when I decided to move to MT and work in the oil fields!
Yes I have called HDP to look into their receivers and of course they told me how great they were, which is why I came here to ask a simple question only to be attacked and accused. I am sorry I am not as adept as some of you with the sites search tool! I tried searching "Head Down receiver" and "Head Down Rifles" and came up with 0 results! I hope this straightens things out! and for those of you with your heads so far up your asses and still haven't got a clue I simply don't give a fuck! |

I apologize for doing so! Which magazine did you see it in? Sorry, I wasn't calling you a shill. I merely stated that I found your claim of not being able to get search results on the HDP was very hard to believe. I got instant search results for them as I am sure than many more here have. As far as me posting the definition and expalnation of shill.... you did ask and I did deliver. No offense intended. The receivers look nice. I'm not very excited about their choice of material or the fact that they are not fully ambi capable. In their current state, I would not buy one. I would sooner spend a little more and get another ar15.com fully ambi billet lower made from 7075. |

I dont have the magazine infront of me but I will let you know tomorrow ( the mag is at work) I wasn't talking about you and yes I did ask and have no issue with your answer. Thank you for the response about the receiver I am used to sheet metal receivers so I really didnt realize that about the material they use, so maybe I will look into a Sanju receiver but dare I ask about them!!!!!! I will really be a shill since I do live in the same state! |

Sanju? Damn.... you are taking me back.... waaaay back. Haven't heard people talk about or inquire them in a long time.
Really, if you like the look of the HDP receiver, you should peep the ar15.com billet receiver before you buy. It is fully ambi capable and directly compatible with the B.A.D.A.S.S. 45 degree selector. |

| You swore an oath to the United States when enlisting in the Corp. Then turned around and enlisted in a foreign countries military. I would have a huge problem doing this. Maybe its because i love my country, but i would feel like a traitor doing that. I just dont understand it, which is why it doesnt compute with me. |

Thanks I will look into one of the ar15.com receivers! Are you talking about Sonju receivers out of Kalispell, MT??? If so, they are known as SI Defense now and I read in the paper the other day that they just sold out to a larger company, not sure on what name will go on the receivers yet. By the way, welcome to Arfcom, looks like you'll fit right in. |
