So I got a project in the works.  I assemblied a new barrel to a old upper (approx 500rds).  Is it okay to use the old bolt/bc ( approx 500rds)?  Or should I buy all the shit to check the head space?

Would it be fair to say that I should buy a "GO" and a "Field" gauge from brownells?

Get the Go and the No Go.  I have the Turner ones from Mydway but its a preference issue.

I believe the headspace is done when the barrel extention is placed on the barrel. Other than that I dont think headspacing is needed. I never headspace mine at least.

Okay I read the tacked post.  Now I am getting confused.  I bought the barrel w/ the barrel extention and chamber already assemblied.  I just concerned about using a "used bolt".  I am kind of getting conflicting reports. (Like the tacked post said I would)

A really worn out bolt MIGHT give you headspace problems. A 500 round bolt isn't even broken in.

Buy the field gauge.
It's the only one you need.

Buy a go gauge also. I have had a few barrels I had to swap bolts around to get it to close on and one barrel that would not let it close after many differnet bolts were tried. Had to send it back to the manufacturer. Cheapest ones I have seen are these at Midway. Never tried them though.
