I am going thru my ammo and I found a loaded magazine and I don't know what brand of .223 ammo this is. Any help would be appreciated.

It's Barnaul from Russia.
The steel cased ammo packaged by Monarch from Academy is mostly made by Barnaul.
(the brass cased ammo packaged by Monarch is Privi)

Barnaul .223 is, in my experience Good Stuff. Definitely worlds better than Tula.

Anything can be used as self defense.
But there are better choices out there.
