I am a newb. My first 100 rounds were spent slow n easy zeroing etc., after that chaos ensued. It was fun as hell. After putting those next 400 rounds through my new Armalite M4. The stock handguards freakin hot as hell. I wound up using the magazine well to grip which wasn't bad but I am a big guy and have long arms so it's a bit short. My question is will the Larue Handguard Combo help with not getting/feeling so hot? Also is heat part of the reason for getting a Tango Down battle grip? I really thought the stock handguards were really cheap looking/feeling anyway. Will the battle grip get in the way of using the handguard if you want to switch your grip up? Thanks for your help. You guys are great.

Personally I say shoot slower.

What rail do you have.  If its something like the surefire rail, you could remove the top head shield.

Gloves, good rail covers, VFG, are other options.

A FF rail should heat up slower, but if you do enough rapid fire, even that will get hot.
