Joined some time ago, but this is my first post. Got my new AR a week ago, which is a CMMG MK4T. I am so far pleased with this rifle as well as the excellent customer service. It seems to be quite solid with good workmanship. No burrs or flaws as well as I can determine.  I am looking to put a Nikon P223 Matte BDC on it but was wondering if you all knew if there is a scope mount that would allow me to use my Magpuls without removing the scope. I can't wait for range time. I am a former police firearms/rifle instructor. Also a former police armorer. I am currently a CNC precision machinist making medical instruments for brain and ear surgery. I am not trying to brag by any means, but just giving a little info on myself. I am confident you folks are the pros with experience in this AR platform and I am the apprentice. I really look forward to being here. Thanks in advance.

You won't be able to use sights through the scope

This is pretty much it. Your only other option would be to use a removable scope mount.

Your scope should be mounted with the eyepiece/ocular lens above the rear sight thus making it unusable until you remove said scope.

Welcome to the posting world. Lots of good folks out here to give you solid info. My set up is similiar, but it's dedicated to the scope. Of course, I have a few more set up with RDS with magnifier (flip to side) and back up irons. Just means you need to pick up a couple more and build for other uses.

Welcome.

I have a couple of AR's with scopes that don't have back up sights. I don't think they are needed. Last I checked I'm not in a battle in some far away place where it would be needed to have a back-up.

Welcome to ARFCOM.

Same here. No backup sights really needed. With my eyesight they wouldn't be effective anyway. With a 9X scope I can just see where I'm hitting the target at 50 yds. Can't see at 75 yds. Old age is fun. Have patience, you'll eventually get there.

You can not cowitness iron sights through a magnified optic.

The only way to use iron sights along with the optic is to get a canted sight similar to this image I found (although this looks like an airsoft toy but you get the idea):

Otherwise the scope will have to detach before you can use it.

The only way to use iron sights through the optic is to get a unlimited eye relief optic like an Aimpoint or EoTech. You can in fact get a multiplier with redots so it can be a magnified as well as do what you want.
