| I just purchased a stripped upper receiver and I took the dust cover off my other upper and the spring flew off, now im stuck trying to figure out how to put the spring and dust cover back on my new upper. Any help? I know it is a dumb and probably very easy solution, but i cant figure it out. Thanks in advance! |
| Well, most of us have been there before. Insert rod from the stock end... just to get it started. Insert spring, I believe its short leg to the rear. Insert rod a little more. Now you're gonna have to wind the spring, just one time around. Once its wound, finish inserting the rod. Try the door, if it snaps out... like its supposed to, then you wound the spring the right way. If it does not, you wound it the wrong way. Once it springs out, and the rod is all the way in place, put the "Jesus clip" back in place, towards the front, should be a notch in the rod. "Jesus clip" is a small "C" shaped clip, you'll see where it goes, again provided it came with one. Hope that helps bud. |

Here's a trick which I use to prevent crawling on the floor for 30+ minutes looking for the spring and C-clip retaining ring:
Get yourself a big plastic bag, put the rifle in it and install inside the bag. When the spring sproings and the C-clip flies, you'll know where they went. You can also use a piece of plastic sheet or even a towel over the area as you install. Those little parts really fly. |
