Hey everyone,
I'm a beginner in the AR15 world and I'm trying to build a custom rifle by myself. I've searched a lot of information about AR parts and which are the best for my use and I'd like you to tell me which parts are great and the one that are not. I'd use it for target practice in range at about 300 meters (~=330 yards) and maybe more. So guys, here's the main parts I've picked up for this build : Battle Arms CHF Lower Receiver Battle Arms Billet Upper Receiver BCM Bolt Carrier Group YHM 16" Black Nitrated Barrel BCM KMR KeyMode Free Float Handguard I'm not quite sure (especially on the barrel) if this build will be perfect for 300 meters, so thanks in advance for helping me improving it !! PS : English isn't my mother tongue, so I might have made some mistakes. |
Welcome
You will have one bad ass rifle when you are done. Not sure how you're budget situation is, but for my first build I would consider going a little more conservative and spend the extra money on ammo, an optic and range time. But that's just me. If you are like most of us, this will not be the only rifle you build and you will learn through the progression the things you like and things you don't like. My first build looks nothing like my latest and I have different set ups for different needs. Have fun with your build and don't hesitate to ask questions here. There are tons of great people on this site and even more great information at your finger tips to help you through the process. Tex |
| Personally I would go with all BCM, if you're looking for a 300 meter rifle then get an 18" or 20" although a 16" will do just fine. BCM reliability and quality is top notch so you know you're getting quality parts. You can get a fully completed BCM lower reciever w/stock too for $400 and the upper for about $900-$1,000. If you want to do everything yourself then you could pick out all the parts separately and probably save some money too. I could help you out with a build list if you really wanted too. |
