I have come up with the bright idea (maybe) to create a Web site dedicated to tracking the prices of ammunition across the country on a weekly basis. This Web site will be completely user-driven (meaning I'll require your input) to track ammo prices at whatever location. All you'll have to do is fill out a simple form, which will assist you automatically, with ammo manufacturer, price, and so on. I'll include images to let you know at a glance which calibers have gone up, down, or remained static in price for a given week. I'll also be implementing a reviews section where you can put your two cents in on any ammunition. Sound good? Any suggestions on what other information I should track? I've also posted this over in the Handgun Ammunition Forum. |

Halfway, yes. Thanks for the link, though. That gives me some basis on where to begin. I don't think their price per round includes tax/shipping. It also only displays online dealers. What if a user wants to find the price of ammo at their local chinamart? A different, but better chain around here, Meijer, sells .223 Rem UMC for 6.99 a box. Chinamart in Lewisburg, PA, sells it for $9.13 a box. There are no Meijer stores in PA, unfortunately. I checked personally while I was visiting there. The reason I'm doing this is also because I've called department stores for prices on their ammo, had to wait for 15 minutes while the manager I was talking to saunters back to the Sporting Goods section, proceeds to list all the manufacturer types I wasn't looking for, takes forever to find the caliber I'm looking for, and then finally, I get my price. By that time, I could've driven to the store, and checked myself. Other occasions, I've just been hung up on. This was Wal-Mart, by the way. Meijer has a much better phone system there. |
