Saw an odd Colt lower the other day. The lower was labeled AR15A2 on the left side; but lacked the strengthened receiver extension and mag fence of an A2. The safety had three settings - safe, set, and fire. The "set" was about 45 degrees between the safe and fire settings and you could tell it had been etched separately from the safe and fire markings; but did appear to be factory. Except for the front pivot pin being a normal Colt pin (screw), all the other push pins and FCG pins were milspec and the lower did not have any sear block in it and no evidence of the sear block being removed. The gun was set up as a preban 20" HBAR and had the older Colt grey finish on it. The upper was pure A2 with deflector and adjustable sights. Anyone know where such an odd lower came from? |
