Stupid me, I clicked this thread thinking it was going to be an awesome counter made of bullets and brass, like a kitchen counter... After OP completes his project, who wants to help me make a bullet counter, or should we call it a counter of bullets? Well it could have been about reloading as well... that's why I stopped the drunk forum surfing to come in here. |
Someone beat you to it. There is already a digital round counter for semi-auto handguns and AR15. The one for AR's is wireless.http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Round-Counter-for-AR15/dp/B00H591WTC |
| For those of us w/ different sized magazines, it would be helpful for the counter to count up, instead of down. Unless you're going to have a fancy electronic floorplate that tells your counter what capacity each magazine is. Or a little widget glued to each magazine. |

And besides, just because I'm not the first to make something doesn't mean I shouldn't try to make it. Microsoft made tablets long before Apple came out with the iPad, ya know Quoted:
YHM mini riser. Google it. That's not exactly what I'm looking for, but thank you. Quoted:

Unless you're going to have a fancy electronic floorplate that tells your counter what capacity each magazine is. Or a little widget glued to each magazine. The counter isn't going to determine how many bullets are in a magazine by reading the actual quantity of bullets in a magazine. That's too expensive and comes with too much baggage. I think that's why the product that ewetstone linked to earlier hasn't taken off. Instead, our bullet counter is going to assume there are either 10 or 30 rounds in a magazine, adjustable by the user, and count down from those two quantities by detecting when a round has been fired. It's also going to have a count up mode, in case you want to count how many rounds you've fired throughout the day. |

There's another ammo tracker out there: Leitner Wise Countashot. There's an awful lot of 20 round magazines out there that are used, and also 150, 100, & 90 round drums, as well as 40, 60, 100 - and 15 round magazines. If you limit yourself to 30 & 10... Duly noted. |
