I have a stock that is constructed exactly like an A2, and uses an A2 length swivel screw, but is A1 length. It is marked with an "S" inside of a "C". I know Cav Arrms makes a stock this length, but the swivel hole is enlarged, mine is exactly like an A2.

It is a Colt CS stock......that's about all I know about it.

Funny, they use that same CS on our Scrolls that come from Casting Services, from China.  Too funny...

Does that mean this was a Colt supplied part?

Good luck - They are very uncommon, at least on this side of the border. As you have already determined it is a Colt built stock made exactly like a A2 stock but with an A1 length. IMO, it's the best fixed stock (and one of the best stocks overall) available for the AR. The Canadian Army supplies them to their troops on a "as requested" basis but even up there they are not real common (at least not in civilian hands). They also came installed on some state side civilian Colts right around the time of the '94 ban but I forget what model it was they came on?

Sometimes 1 comes up for sale on the EE but when they do, they generally aren't cheap. Usually they sell for between $100 (for just the stock body alone) up to $175 for a complete setup in LN condition. I got lucky a couple of years ago and got 2 CS stock bodies from a nice guy in Canada for $35ea. Like an idiot I sold one and almost immediately regretted it. I finally found 2 more but had to pay much more then $35ea. to get them

Never sell the one you have (unless it's to me! ) and keep your eyes peeled for another one. The CavArms stock is a joke in comparison (Sorry CA )

The CS stocks first appeared on the Colt Lightweight models when they were introduced in the early 90s.  Colt had stopped selling carbines with collapsible stocks to civilians , and substituted the CS stocks on these rifles.  Only early Lightweights had these stocks; later rifles came with regular A2 stocks.

I have three of these stocks and love 'em.  I once nearly bought a rifle at a gun show just to get the CS stock that was on it.  Kinda wish I'd bought it now.

One came on my pre-94 Colt 9mm AR.
It's been sitting in my gun junk drawer since the AWB ended,
and I placed a 4 point tele-stock on the 9mm.
I have a BCM middie with an A2 that seems too long,
maybe I'll try it on that....
