I want to build a AR or 2 & not sure what I really want to build. I like the old school look & want to build a old school GAU (xm177) one of these days. Really like the look and feel of em as I carried one off and on for 20 years. However, I also see the need for having a flashlight on the AR & thus ya would need a rail. Want to "paint" em in sand/desert colors as it's mostly brown/dusty/dirty around here and black sticks out like a KKK guy at a black panthers convention. My eyes suck and thus chances are I need an optic of some kind. Want the AR's to be able to be passed down to the daughters & something the girls can shoot getting ready for JROTC/ROTC so they kick ass when it comes to shooting the M16. I do like the M4 style and have never played with a "mid length" AR Want quality parts/barrels & such, weapon must be 100% functional at all times with proper care and feeding. Don't think I want an optic for the GAU style weapon as I'm leaning toward an A1 style upper for the "old school" look. This would be a "play" toy and not one for serious social work unless one of the girls liked it. Am leaning toward a flatop of some kind so I can have an optic along with BUIS on the 2nd one. For lowers I've got a local shop that carries Saber Defence lowers for $127 & Superior Arms for $99. |

Check these guys out at the link below. CMMG They give you many options from the factory to build you upper as you like & have the styles you mentioned. Carbine lengths & midlengths galore, 1/7 twist, CL bore & chamber, etc. |
