Which one looks better?

this

or  this?

The second one (Tango Down) is a MUCH more secure grip.   I've replaced a KAC and a no-name one witht the TD and it is the most solid VFG out there.

Can you actually put your hands on them before you decide Abu? If it were me I'd decide which one felt and fit my hands best. I'd also make sure that the one I chose didn't get slippery when my hands were wet/sweaty. I'd check to make sure that using it while wearing gloves wasn't a problem. Does one mount more securely than the other? Metal vs plastic fasteners etc?

Just some random thoughts

The tango down looks killer. I love that. Right now I have a cheap rail and a cheap knights arnament wannabe grip. I want to get a true free float quad rail and the tango down sometime thought.

unfortunately i havent tried any of them  and i dont think i can find them locally so im gonna have to purchase online...   im asking you guys to help me scrutinize  by looking at the pictures...

link to the first one

the first one looks solidly built  (just like the Tangodown) but i just dont know how good it attaches to the rails....

if  most responses about the first one turn out to be negative..im gonna have to play safe by going with the more expensive Tangodown..

The TD is a fine VFG, but various rail systems may find it too tight (can be fixed) or too loose (not sure how you would reliably fix that.) I had one on my KAC M4, and it had quite a bit of play in it. I have a KAC VFG on for now, until I get around to buying a Dieter CQD VFG:

I think the Tango is a better choice, but I have a TD, and not one of the others so consider my take biased.

quick/ thread detour...........Re: loose TD on accessory rail: how do you use that zip tie they provide? eta: just noticed the photo above that uses it to secure the tape switch on the surefire

now, back to "Which looks better.......?"

I'm going with the Tango Down soon because it seems like a much more solid choice.  The one on top appears to be machined out of metal so I'm sure its pretty solid but that Tango looks like you could beat it on cement and it wouldn't break off.

What rail system are you using?

I have a TD on a LaRue rail and one on a Daniel Defense rail.  Both are rock solid.  I had a TD on another DD rail and it had some play in it.  Enough play to make me take off the damn grip.  I tried the grip on different rails and other grips (including my other TD grips) and the problem is for sure the rail, not the grip.

Thus, on that rifle I have to use a vertical grip like the KAC or SOG to get the grip tight.

Have you asked anyone in your local Hometown foum?  I'd be shocked if no local guys had grips you could try.

I've got the first foregrip and it works great. Attaches to my two Piece YHM rail fine and is very sturdy. No complaints yet.

I would go with the tango down. I don't have on personally but my brother has one and it is very solid.

Who cares which one looks better.  I'd take some of the advice above and try to handle each one before you buy.  You may get the "best looker", but it might feel like shit in your hands.

thanks for the replies guys..

although i didnt order any of the 2 grips i presented to you, you guys made me realize how more important the way the grip is attached to the rail than the looks ....

so to really play safe i closed my eyes and ordered the CQD (dieter grip) which has 3 bolts/nuts from DSG ARMS  for $90 shipped..:(  ...

Ah man you messed up!  should have went with one of the others...
pros and cons:

-CQD is way to heavy
-those 3 screws strip very easy after taking it off a couple of times.
-screws intead of quick release system.
-and if you put batteries in the storage make sure you tape them up because the whole damn thing conducts electricity and will heat up on you.

the only thing good about Duane's grip is the purpose it was made for, if your going to use his tactics:
close quaters defense with a weapon, because you can knock the shit out of someone with the pointy tip while using his "spring stance"  which sucks anyways because Duane Deiter has been trying to manipulate the Gunfighter into thinking like a hand fighter, which is not the way a gunfight works.
call me byest or whatever but ive been through his course twice (and thats because I had to)  and used his grips and gear and then he gave us all one.  after mounting it on my rifle and then it breaking 2 days later....well deiter can keep his shit and his tactics.

i actually ordered 2 grips-the CQD in the photo and the TangoDown which i sold  to someone here...ive decided to keep the CQD because of the 3 bolts for the attachment to the rail (vs.  2 with the TD) ...

as far as "how it feels" i dont know about the TD because i didnt open the package...i installed the CQD first and felt comfortable with it right away...

i have definitely acquired the  "black rifle disease"-  now im looking for a nice optic..im thinking of the eotech 512 / 552...

abu, I really meant that for  SIMPLYDYNAMIC.
I run the CQD grip on one rilfe and a Tango Down on another. I love them both.

The second would be my choice but you'd have to try them yourself to tell.

I've had both.

The first one is from Botach right?
The TD is much, much better.  I really like the feel of the TD in my hands vs the Botach brand.  Spend the few extra $$, you'll be glad you did.

Realise with the cover installed the TD grip is shaped like an egg and is NOT round.  I put on on my rifle.  Felt it.  Promtly took it off and never put it back on.  It a quality piece but not for me at all.  It feels like crap and is wider than it is deep which is just all wrong for me.  I thinks it is the worst feeling grip made.  Their rear grip is also the worst feeling grip made... tiny at the top for little girl hands and fat at the bottom.  Worst ergonomics ever with TD products IMO.

Don't know how tight you are wrenching them on there...

-screws intead of quick release system.

Other than a KAC (kind of) or ARMS, who has a 'qd' system for VFG? And why would you want one?

-and if you put batteries in the storage make sure you tape them up because the whole damn thing conducts electricity and will heat up on you.

Or don't take out the rubber caps.

No offense, but you just sound like you have some personal issue with Dieter. Other than potentially the weight issue, the other stuff you list is petty, and in the case of stripping screws, just operator error.

+1 for a Dieter CQD VFG

TD FG is just a $60 piece of damn plastic...
