I've built my share of AK47's, M1 Carbines, FAL G1's, the list goes on. So why not a lower receiver for an AR15? Well, I am having one heck of a time installing the trigger and sear.I cannot get them to line up for the life of me. I can insert a punch, and that holds everything in place. Tried pushing the punch out with the pin. Nothing. I believe the issue is with the sear spring. Is the spring suppose to completely recess in the trigger? There is a flared end on the spring, and it will not allow me to to compress it enough to line up the holes. Very frustrating!! |

You are talking about the disconnect spring aren't you? It rests with the flared end inside the trigger and then the disconnect goes on top of it. It does not need to go fully inside the trigger and it should stick up past the top of the trigger. You slide the trigger pin in through one side of the trigger then slide the disconnector up and down and forward and backwards until you slide the trigger pin through the hole in the disconnector, then through the other side of the trigger and then into the lower, done. You only need to barely press down on the disconnector and it is not hard, you just have to line them up correctly. If you have to, use a bigger punch so there is no wiggle room as you try to slide in the trigger pin while pushing out the punch. If you use a smaller punch than the size of the hole you almost always will hit the edge of the disconnector hole. Between the trigger pin and the hammer pin, the trigger pin the easy one to do. There is hardly any spring tension you need to overcome so if you cannot get the trigger pin through the disconnector it is either the hole in the disconnector is too small (the pin will go through it won't it when not in the rifle?) or you simply do not have them lined up correctly. Keep your cool and keep trying. It really is simple.
