This question is about a Sig-522, but it is about a take down pin so I figured I'd ask hear since it ya'll would probably be the best to ask.
I picked up a Sig 522 over the summer, and I love it, 3500+ rounds and no jams other than bad ammo(FTF's) I tried to remove the flash-hider without a vice shortly after buying it, and sure enough I messed up and I think I flexed the receiver. I think this because after that, the rear take-down pin was loose and would fall out, and eventually I lost it. However, replacing it won't work because the hole is too loose now anyway.. For the last 6 months I've been using 2 zip ties, one running through the hole and behind the pistol grip, the other running over the top rail and back through the hole. This set-up works quite well actually, with no movement, but it looks tacky and it gets annoying having to cut and replace zip ties when I clean the gun, which is fairly often since I shoot it every weekend. So, any ideas? I was wondering if anyone made a take down pin that was 2 pieces and screwed together, since that seems like it might keep it together if the heads were wider than the body to keep it from slipping out. Or if anyone thinks up anything else, I'm open for ideas Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I figured it would get the most views here and someone smarter than me could think up a solution. There is a warranty, but it's voided if its the customers fault, which mine definitely is.
As far as gunsmithing, It's not a big enough problem that I want to spend much money getting fixed. I was thinking about this : http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=366909 and "mickey mouse-ing" it to work if it was too big/little |
