Hey Guys-
Picked up a RRA varmint 24 inch upper and attached my 6x24 sightron with the
standard leupold "high" mounts and the darn thing is still too low for a comfortable
sight picturehare very expensivehinking.gif
Does anyone know where and what rings would work fine without costing an
arm and a leg ??
Thanks-
John from PA

You need a 1/2 riser to make it work better. Look at the RRA scout riser or the yankee hill stuff. Both are reasonably priced and nice quality.

+1 on the riser/extender.  but warne is one of the best values out there.  do you have a 1" or 30mm tube?  also knowing the height of your current rings will help figuring out which ones will be high enough.

irons are 1.3" above the rail on a flattop.  you need to know how much above that you need with your cheekweld.  then its just math.

I have used Warne ultra high and they provide enough clearance over a Troy BUIS and good cheek weld.  They are only about $70 and great rings.  I used the QD model and unfortunately they are back ordered everywhere.  I went this route to eliminate an additional mount that might come loose, but this was probably over thinking it, and you could therefore use lower rings with a riser.

Another fan of the Warnd Ultra High QD rings.  Perfect hight for a flat top AR.  Her's a pic of mine.

I'm in the same boat as the OP.  I've got a flat top and my standard 30mm rings obviously don't work.  Even though my red dot came with 2 rings, I'm thinking that buying a mount from 1137 might be the best way to go for saving money.  My rifles a range toy so it doesn't need anything fancy.

good height, but eye relief issues.  a 1/2" riser/extender with med rings would fix that, with a 1" tube.  youd be .06" lower.

I have the 2-piece Armalite rings  (EX0029-XCS).  It puts the centerline of the scope at the same height as iron sights, which works fine for me with an A2 stock.  They have them on their website in their Armalite gone wild sale page right now for a good price.
