I know this is for a sling, but from what I can tell it goes behind the threaded portion of (behind the castle nut) the buttstock is this true?  But is this for single point sling ? Ideas suggestions ?

Who makes it ? Where did you buy it ?

From the looks of it , it goes on the side of the castle nut towards the butt end not the muzzle end of the gun . Basically not requiring you to remove the nut . It is a a rear sling mount used for a single point sling or a rear point on a 2 point sling . If you have an adjustable stock it will likely make you lose the shortest setting on it as it needs to go on the tube itself .

I have a little problem with the thickness of it as it appears in the pic . Seems rather thick to put a sling clip through . Maybe it should have a ring through it first so you could attatch you sling to that .

Personaly I think sling mounts like this are a waste . Buy an IKH Slap plate or any of the other mounts out there and a $8 wrench and make it look nice . Despite what some might say , it is NOT hard to do and you'll be happier with the end result and look of your gun .

Good luck to you

It was gave to me, and it doesn't have any markings on it anywhere.

Uses a push button quick disconnect on it I'm guessing. You can use it either 1 point or 2 point, although it seems like most 1 point rigs use a HK style hook instead of the QD.
